Turn Faith into Action

In our Word from God today James, the eldest of Jesus’ four younger brothers, challenges each of us to prove our faith in Christ Jesus in spite of the present evil world we live in. James’ reoccurring theme is that the “hearing” of “faith” must lead to “doing” of “deeds”. If God’s grace is the basis for our salvation through Christ Jesus then our faith in Him will be displayed by our deeds for others. Faith must affect every area of a believer’s life because our good deeds are the fruits of our love and living faith for God. A conviction or intellectual belief in God if not followed by obedience to His commands is useless, for…

…”faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” James 2:17

The Jerusalem Church of which James was a leader of had fallen into a worldly lifestyle and was failing to put their faith into practice. So James tests those whose faith is in Christ Jesus to seek divine wisdom and to put their faith into action. My Dear Friends, the words and actions you and I make today will prove whether our faith is real, for if others hear us speak the Word of God in faith they must also see us act the Word of God in faith. For we were once strangers on this earth until God revealed his commands to us and when we obeyed, we became His friends. “When we walk with the Lord in the light of his word, what a glory he sheds on our way! While we do his good will, he abides with us still, and with all who will trust and obey.” Now Creekside, let’s Turn Faith into Action!
